The Order of Engineers - Portugal (Ordem dos Engenheiros)

The Ordem dos Engenheiros (OE) / Engineers Portugal is a public non-profit association that represents the engineering graduates exercising the profession of engineer. The OE was created on November 24, 1936, by Decree-Law. OE has approx. 42,500 registered members, which makes of OE the second largest professional association of the country. OE is a major active stakeholder in all issues concerning legal regulation of both engineering activities in Portugal and it has a very strong and active interest and influence in the quality of engineering education. Concerning the latter, OE is founder member of ENAEE (European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education) and is a recognized EUR-ACE Agency by ENAEE. Since 1994 it has performed more than 250 evaluations of the quality of engineering programmes.
